On February 14th, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred at Michigan State University, leaving three students dead and five wounded. It happened at both the Berkey Hall and the MSU Student Union, two places of education and fellowship, where students were working and socializing. It is believed that the shooter, with no ties to MSU, had chosen the university deliberately to send a message.

The campus rock across the street from MSU College of Education now features painted words that capture the emotion of the moment—“How many more?”. Josh Cowen, a professor of education policy at Michigan State says, “we’re aspirational in these communities. We’re looking for more—if elementary and secondary classrooms are about development, universities are about experience.”

In a statement to the press, Governor Whitmer called for solidarity, stating

In an effort to contain the attacker, numerous police officers responded to the scene and were able to quickly capture the suspect after they contacted him off-campus. The suspect died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound before they were able to apprehend him.

MSU interim president Teresa Woodruff addressed the tragedy and offered her condolences, saying, “We want to wrap our warm arms around every family that is touched by this tragedy and give them the peace that passeth understanding in moments like this. We will change over time... and we cannot allow this to continue to happen again.”

On the evening of February 14th, 2021, tragedy struck the Michigan State University campus when convicted felon Anthony McRae opened fire in an academic hall, killing three students and critically wounding five others. McRae had been released from probation after being convicted in 2019 of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

The victims in the MSU shooting have been identified as juniors Arielle Anderson and Alexandria Verner, and sophomore Brian Fraser, all from the Detroit area. Anderson and Fraser were from Grosse Pointe and Verner was from Clawson.

McRae's brother Michael has said that his brother had become increasingly angry and bitter after his mother's death in September 2020. In a statement to the press, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer described the shooting as a heartbreaking demonstration of the need to end gun violence - suggesting no one should have to endure such a tragedy.

In a hotly contested matchup, the Milwaukee Bucks extended their winning streak over the Boston Celtics to 11 on Tuesday night. In an overtime game that had all the makings of an upset, with the Celtics noticeably undermanned, the Bucks pulled through with mixed contributions from their lineup and a career-high performance from Jrue Holiday.

Holiday hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining in overtime that ultimately secured the win for Milwaukee. After the decisive shot, Boston was left with the ball and interim head coach Joe Mazzulla attempted to draw up a play without a timeout, but the possesssion ultimately ended with a Grant Williams turnover and clear path foul, ending the late charm run for the Celtics.

Mazzulla admitted postgame he had given his team a bit too much freedom on the possession and should of called timeout. Meanwhile, Grant Williams

The Champions League returns for the Round of 16 and the matchups are sure to bring plenty of excitement. All eyes will be on Borussia Dortmund vs. Chelsea as both sides bring their respective firepower. The German side will have a slight advantage as they have been in great form of late, sitting at the top of their domestic league and having dropped just one match in their last 21 Serie A games. Though they cannot rely on their home crowd support, they do have an incredibly passionate fan base which will be out to get retribution and an upset over the English side.

On the Chelsea side of things, they have been in the news lately due to their spending spree in the transfer window. Their $600 million wallet was not enough though and they won't be able to bank on all their new stars due to the rule that only three of their new signings can play in the Round of 16. Their new manager Todd Bohley will

The French midfielder credits his position in the middle of the field for bridging the gap between defence and attack, while also emphasising his enjoyment of defending and making projections in order to play his role well.

PSG alum Edouard Cisse commented, saying: "When they get bumped into, nobody really responds. It's always the same thing: if they can play at their pace, there's no problem. As soon as the opposing team puts us the intensity, they are lost.”

On the Bayern side, Manuel Neuer, Lucas Hernandez, Noussair Mazraoui, and Sadio Mane are all set to miss the match. This means that their substitutes may have to step

Roseanne Barr is no stranger to controversy, and her latest grievance aired with the Los Angeles Times shows that the former sitcom star has still got something to say almost three years after being fired from the ABC show bearing her own name. Ahead of her upcoming standup special, Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!, the comedian reprimanded the entertainment industry for its double standard of punishment when it comes to her, comparing her exile to that of other comedy stars Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K.

“They didn’t do it to anyone else in Hollywood, although they always throw in Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K,” Barr told the LA Times. “Well, Louis C.K. did lose everything, but he committed an actual [offense]. And Dave Chappelle was protected by Netflix. I’m the only person who’s

Following the shooting, the court confirmed that McRae was released from probation in May 2021.

Michigan State University Police Deputy Chief Chris Rozman spoke on the police's response and the grim reality of 366 school shootings nationwide since 1999.

In response, the U.S. government has put in place a program to help students respond to similar circumstances. The program called “Run, Hide, Fight” is taught across the country, informing individuals on what to do in these situations. The primary advice is to attempt to flee the scene if possible, or hide in a safe place. The third option, and a key difference, is the advice to confront an attacker,

Late Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, customers of U.S. wireless provider T-Mobile reported widespread service outages to websites tracking service interruptions. According to Downdetector.com and Product-Reviews.net, outages were reported in multiple areas. Many Twitter users echoed these reports. Many users reported their service had been changed to “SOS mode,” meaning they were not directly connected to a network but could still make emergency calls.

Neville Ray, President of Technology at T-Mobile, issued a statement at 1:00am, revealing that the outage was caused by a third-party fiber interruption issue. Ray reported that, by 3:00am, the organization had seen “significant improvement” while still operating at near normal levels. Ray apologized to all customers who experienced the frustrating issue.

It appears that other major carriers were also affected, though

With the number of unidentified aerial objects shot down over the North American continent in the last week, tensions and mysteries mount. No one is able to pinpoint the source of these objects and the U.S.’s increased aerial defense efforts have prompted a political storm.

The Pentagon and Capitol Hill have been busy releasing thin details about the U.S. fighter jets’ increasingly frequent attempts to shoot down the unidentified crafts. Making the international episode even more unusually baffling are questions of potential safety for civilian aviation raised by the White House, Pentagon, Canadian airspace, and U.S. spy agencies.

Republican lawmakers are turning the episode into a political argument, with unanswered questions about President Joe Biden's leadership. Meanwhile, military officials have raised the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s awareness and tightened the radar filters in search of smaller and slower objects since the well-publicized shooting down of
