President Joe Biden has come under intense criticism after it was revealed that he has declined to participate in a pre-Super Bowl interview on Fox News. This comes after the network’s reveal on Tuesday night that the White House ”has yet to agree to have President Biden sit for an interview that would air before the Super Bowl.”

This refusal has been seen as a show of disrespect and a slight towards Fox News, which holds the highest viewership amongst news networks. Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum made public the request they submitted to the White House, but their lackluster response had not only angered viewers, but their coworkers as well. Fox's White House reporter Peter Doocy and Biden have had a long-standing feud and Doocy has publicly remarked his frustration at the lack of acknowledgment of Fox News.

Comparatively, Biden previously agreed

Early on Tuesday morning, the night sky in Turkey filled with the cries and sobs of those in search of missing relatives and friends. The magnitude 7.8 quake that ripped through Turkey and its neighbor to the East, Syria, has taken the lives of more than 3,700 and caused countless more to lose their homes. With temperatures dropping, freezing winter weather has made the plight of the affected even worse.

People cling to any hope of rescue they may still have as the screams of those still trapped in rubble can be heard. Deniz, a local resident, said, “They’re making noises but nobody is coming. We’re devastated, we’re devastated. My God... They’re calling out. They’re saying, 'Save us,' but we can’t save them. How are we going to save them? There

At least 3,500 people are dead after two earthquakes measuring 7.8 and 7.5, along with subsequent aftershocks, struck Turkey and Syria. Citizens of Jordan, Israel, Egypt, and Lebanon were able to feel the sheer force of the quakes. Monday evening's death count, expected to rise, is the largest toll recorded in seismic activity since a 2016 Ecuador quake estimated to have killed 676 people.

Yuksel Akalan, an onscene reporter for MSNBC, described the after shocks to Reuters. He said, “As we were heading to the rubble to (film) search and rescue efforts, there were two consecutive aftershocks with a loud noise, and the building you are seeing on my left was brought down to earth. There was a lot of dust.”

Every year during the State of the Union Address, one cabinet secretary is elected to stay away from the Capitol Building. This individual is known as the “designated survivor” and plays an important role in keeping the line of presidential succession alive in the event of a disaster.

The tradition of naming a designated survivor during the president’s State of the Union address began during the Cold War in the 1950s, however, it wasn’t until Ronald Regan’s 1981 address that the name of the person chosen was made public.

The Presidential Succession Act of 1792 was updated during the Truman administration in the 1947 to determine the order who would assume power in the event of the President’s death, beginning with the Vice-President and following in numerical order with the Speaker of the House, Senate President Pro Tempore, then the Secret

On Wednesday evening, President Biden delivered his second State of the Union address to the American public, highlighting his administration’s successes and priorities for the next year. Lawmakers from both parties had a largely positive reaction to the address, commending President Biden’s plans for dealing with issues like inflation, border security, energy independence, and healthcare reform.

Republican Cong. Ray LaHood of LaSalle County claimed that President Biden’s ambition to tax the rich was not a constructive policy and noted that gas prices have decreased since the president came into office, yet other energy costs have risen. Cong. Lauren Underwood lauded the President’s Affordable Care Act, which has seen over sixteen million Americans enroll in health insurance coverage. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat from Illinois, bemoaned Republican attempts to push out abortion bans, while Sen. Dick Durbin praised the two years of job growth

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made NBA history on Tuesday night, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's storied career scoring record of 38,387 points. James, 38, needed 36 points to break the record, and delivered with a fadeaway 2-point shot with seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Lakers crowd roared in celebration and James was embraced by his family, teammates, business partners, and Abdul-Jabbar himself, who held the record since April 5, 1984.

When James was selected No. 1 overall in 2003 by the Cleveland Cavaliers, no one predicted he would become one of the greatest scorers in the history of the NBA. Yet, 20 seasons later, he is the holder of a record once held by iconic players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Wilt Chamberlain. Even now, at the age of 38, James is

As Saturday approaches, the basketball world is eagerly awaiting when Rutgers faces Michigan State at Madison Square Garden as part of the annual Super Saturday event in the Big Ten. Rutgers and Michigan State have gone head-to-head once already this season, but the Scarlet Knights are hoping for a drastically different result this time around.

Michigan State was able to take care of business in East Lansing a few weeks ago, riding out a 14-5 start to beat Rutgers by double digits. Rutgers obviously wants revenge but they also have the benefit of being able to visit the iconic MSG. As the Big Ten grew to include teams from the east coast, Super Saturday was created to give alumns and students the chance to congregate and enjoy the events.

Nevertheless, the logistics of such an event come at a cost and Rutgers has had to give up one of their home games twice now for

Wrexham AFC, a team from the fifth tier of English soccer, is going up against Sheffield United, a team of the second tier, in a fourth round FA Cup replay on Tuesday at 7.45pm EST. Owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham is gaining increasing publicity and is the lowest ranked team left in the draw, the only club from outside English soccer’s top four leagues.

The teams played to an exciting draw in the first match with the score 3-3. Wrexham newly signed Eoghan O'Connell scoring a late winner against Altrincham on Saturday, giving the Dragons a bit of momentum going into the midweek match. Manager Phil Parkinson believes the passion of their fan base, with nearly 5,000 making the trip to South Yorkshire, will be key and that his side responded well to conceding a goal

President Joe Biden was poised to deliver his first State of the Union address on an unprecedentedly positive note; the country's economy boasted the lowest unemployment rate in decades. But before the speech, Biden's administration was thrown into chaos as a two-ton, high-altitude surveillance balloon was discovered off the coast of Myrtle Beach, SC.

The balloon's discovery drew swift criticism from both Republican and Democratic camps. Rep. David Scott, D-GA, lamented that the Administration had been too slow to take action, allowing the Chinese to collect data and intelligence. Rep. Ann Wagner, R-MO, was more blunt, saying that allowing the balloon to sail "unopposed" showed "an unpardonable show of weakness on the world stage."

For his part, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer described the current state of affairs between the US and China as "tense," and said

President Joe Biden will deliver his second State of the Union Address on Tuesday February 7th, 2023 to a politically split Capitol Hill and a nation facing an uncertain economic future. After the GOP regained control of the House, Biden will be faced with the task of providing a unifying message to Americans. In his address, Biden will finally have to confront the issue of the Supreme Court, which he has been avoiding for months.

In June of 2022, the Supreme Court displayed its newly acquired conservative majority on multiple decisions which significantly impacted Americans. These included Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization in which the Court overturned the popular precedent of Roe v. Wade and two decisions which made it more difficult to regulate firearms and tackle climate change. Not only is Biden mandated to take action on this "activist Court" as some have started to call it; the circumstances surrounding the assembly of the conservative majority also gives Biden pause. On Tuesday night, President Joe Biden will deliver his first State of the Union address since the 2020 election, addressing a new power alignment in Washington and seeking to find a balance between compromise and confrontation. Biden has already proven himself capable of bipartisan cooperation, having successfully completed multiple bills over the last two years.

However, there will likely be an emphasis on Biden's willingness to press forward on the issues that he deems important. Historical precedents from previous presidents such as Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump offer a range of responses. Obama and Clinton were more conciliatory and contrite in their initial speeches, while Trump was the most confrontational.

Paul Begala, a political adviser to Clinton and CNN political commentator explained that “Biden is likely to pledge to cooperate where he can and then confront where he must.” As

Surfer and Book Author Bethany Hamilton is speaking out against the World Surf League's new policy, allowing male-bodied transgender women to compete with biological women. The well-known book author and survivor of a shark attack that required her to have her arm amputated faced the sport’s decision on social media, asking if this rule was "better for the women in surfing?".

Hamilton’s questioning of the policy also caught the attention of best-selling author Jamie Tworkowskie. He responded to her post on social media, posing the question; “Which bothers you more: the purely hypothetical crisis that trans folks are coming to take over the women’s tour? Or the possibility that a living breathing transgender human being, hoping for love and acceptance, would read these comments and feel like even more of an outsider?”

Jamie Tworkowski,

On Tuesday, February 7, Al Hilal stunned the crowd in Tangiers, Morocco to defeat the Brazilian side Flamengo 3-2 in the semifinal of the FIFA Club World Cup. The Saudi Arabian team, powered by World Cup hero Salem Al-Dawsari’s two penalty goals, will now face the winner of Wednesday's semi-final match between Real Madrid and Al Ahly of Egypt on Saturday.

The match began with a quick penalty in the fourth minute of play, when Flamengo right-back Matheuzinho felled Luciano Vietto. Al-Dawsari made no mistake in dispatching the penalty for a 1-0 lead. Just over a quarter of an hour later, Pedro leveled the score for Flamengo. Al-Dawsari slotted his second penalty nine minutes in extra time after Vietto was tripped by former Marseille midfielder Gerson,

On Monday evening, a 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquake jolted Turkey and Syria and sent aftershocks rippling as far as Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, and Egypt. The impact of the devastating disaster has left nearly 5000 dead and countless more injured. Images of rubble and desperate citizens trying to free survivors from the ruins take an emotional toll on those watching.

The heartbreaking video of one of the aftershocks caught on live TV serves as a harsh reminder of the power of the earthquake. In the footage, reporter Yuksel Akalan narrates the horror unfolding before him: "As we were heading to the rubble to (film) search and rescue efforts, there were two consecutive aftershocks with a loud noise, and the building you are seeing on my left was brought down to earth. There was a lot of dust. A local resident is coming and he is covered in dust."

The second day of the Billabong Pro Pipeline, the World Surf League's (WSL) 2023 Men's Championship Tour (CT) event, was a success. With clean four-to-six-foot swell, the surfers battled it out for a chance to claim one of the 32 spots up for grabs in the Round of 32. Joao Chianca from Brazil earned the highest score of the event with an 8.50, and former World Champions showed promise while rookies struggled under pressure.

The Billabong Pro Pipeline is now more than just a surf event - it has become an opportunity for Billabong to use its marketing power to further connect with local communities and the world. Billabong has partnered with local PowWow artist Kamea Hadar on the event poster art, re-imagined the Andy Irons Forever artwork, and empowered the next generation of Hawaiian

WWE fans have eagerly been awaiting the return of John Cena, and they may finally get what they wished for. John Cena Sr. claimed that his son will appear at WWE's annual Royal Rumble event, which is only days away. As if that's not exciting enough, Cena Sr. also believes that his son will be competing at WrestleMania 39 in a match against current U.S. Champion, Austin Theory.

Cena Jr. previously competed on the final SmackDown of 2022 alongside Kevin Owens taking on Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. Then, Cena is expected to compete at this year's WrestleMania and is facing against the 25-year-old Theory. While speculation has run rampant on Cena's return, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports that Cena will in fact be appearing at the Royal Rumble, but it is unknown if he will be competing or not

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell issued a warning to Congress during a Wednesday press conference: raise the debt ceiling or risk widespread defaults and their potential ripple effects. Powell expressed that the central bank can't protect the economy from the consequences of failing to act, as the current impasse in congressional negotiations regarding raising the debt limit has already reached its limit.

The Treasury Department has projected that, if the debt limit isn't raised in the near future, they would be forced to begin defaulting on their obligations as soon as June. Several unorthodox proposals have been discussed, including the issuance of a trillion-dollar coin and the Treasury directing the Fed to buy up troubled government debt.

In response to the proposals, Powell shared that the Fed are the Treasury’s fiscal agent and declined to comment any further. Surprisingly, he also acknowledged that the bank’s efforts to combat inflation, which include reducing its holdings of

Rescue efforts in Southern Turkey and Northern Syria are in full swing, as rescue teams and volunteers continue to search desperately for survivors in the ruins of Monday's devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. As the horrific scenes of thousands of buildings destroyed spread across the region, experts are not surprised. Civil Engineer Jonathan Stewart of UCLA states, "We've seen this before. There was tremendous loss of life due to pancaked buildings." Indeed, the deadly aftershocks of the 1999 North Turkey magnitude quake lingers in the form of 3,000 destroyed structures and a death toll of over 5,000.

Stewart attributes the mass damage to the region's location. It lies in an area where three tectonic plates meet, making it one of the most earthquake prone in the world. In addition to the 1999 tragedy, a major quake also rocked

On February 7th, 2023, the world was left in shock when two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.8 and 7.5 struck Turkey and Syria respectively. Followed by aftershocks, the impact of the quakes reached as far away as Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Egypt. In the end, over 3,500 people lost their lives and the breathtakingly sad video caught on the news of a building collapsed by the aftershock made the horror real.

Those fortunate enough to survive were left sleeping out in the cold, traumatized and in shock. Paramedics, firefighters, and aid workers faced a daunting task, trying to help everyone in need, not having enough resources handle the situation. Whole families have been killed and in addition to the physical damage, the emotional trauma is just as devastating.

Why was the quake so deadly? According to The Washington Post, the large size of the quake, it

Yesterday evening, two catastrophic earthquakes rocked the region of Turkey and Syria, resulting in unbelievable levels of damage and an horrific loss of life. The tremors measured 7.8 and 7.5 on the Richter scale and were followed by a series of powerful aftershocks, impacting areas stretching from Lebanon, Jordan, Israel to Egypt.

The heartbreaking extent of the devastation has already been reported to be in the thousands, with 3,500 deaths confirmed as of Monday evening. The media has released potentially life-saving videos of the aftermath, with reporter Yüksel Akalan broadcasting a devastating image of a residential building in rubble from the effects of an aftershock. He quickly visits the scene of the destroyed building and finds a woman running with her children, both of whom he lifts up to try to help reassure the desperate family.

Though this video is undoubtedly heartbreaking, it is merely

Fresh Ideation Food Group LLC has issued a recall of more than 400 products, including ready-to-eat sandwiches, wraps, fruit, yogurt, desserts and salads, sold in nine states and the District of Columbia. The contamination is due to elevated levels of listeria, an organism which can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may only experience short-term, mild symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recall, announced on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website Friday is for products sold from the 24th of January to the 30th of January from retail locations, vending machines, and during travel with transportation providers. A full list of recalled brands and identifiers has

On February 7, 2021, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, with aftershocks spanning from Lebanon and Jordan to Israel and Egypt. This disaster has left 3,500 dead and many more injured, with calls to action coming from countries around the world. The horrendous force of the quake was caught on video by CNN reporter Yuksel Akalan, who described the scene as "entire families...all gone". The aftershock brought down a building right before his eyes, with a local resident emerging, "covered in dust". Leaving many with nowhere to go, Dr. Abdurrahman Alomar and his family were forced to take refuge in their car while they waited out the tremors.

The consequences of the earthquake are made much more harrowing due to the lack of resources in the region. A senior health adviser for the Syrian American Medical Society, Dr. Alomar relayed the difficulties in

U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Commander Gen. Glen VanHerck recently revealed a major gap in U.S. defenses – since 2019, multiple Chinese airships, including surveillance balloons, have incursioned into the U.S. with no detection. This startling admission has raised questions on just how they managed to fly under the radar.

The United States Air Force Assessment from February 2nd indicates that China launched the spy balloon in question and has operated multiple High Altitude Balloons (HABs) for months at a time as well. It was only when the Biden Administration proposed increased vigilance of overseas surveillance was the balloon detected.

According to National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, “the intelligence community made this a priority at the direction of the President,” and “we enhanced our surveillance of our territorial airspace, enhanced our capacity to be able to detect

A photographer based on Cape Cod captured a chilling image of a shark, frozen stiff, on Cold Storage Beach over the weekend, illustrating just how cold it was in the Northeast due to the polar vortex. On Saturday morning, temperatures dropped to a bitter -10 in Boston and -32 with wind chill.

Amie Medeiros, from Yarmouth Port, discovered the frozen shark when she ventured out to Cold Storage Beach in Dennis on Saturday afternoon. Upon finding the predator, completely frozen on the shore, she was filled with shock and awe. The shark was fully intact with gashes near its right fin and pieces missing from its tail, pectoral fin and teeth, likely caused by scavengers.

John Chisholm, a marine biologist and adjunct scientist at the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, identified the creature as a male porbeagle shark. He noted that the shark must have died

On Monday, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria. Dr. Abdurrahman Alomar, his family, and other residents in Gaziantep experienced one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in more than a century. Alomar, a Syrian doctor and senior health adviser with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), described being woken in the early morning hours and seeing everyone in the building hastily flee to the surrounding streets, dressed in their pajamas and unarmed.

The magnitude of the earthquake released 250 times more energy than the deadly 6.2 earthquake that struck Central Italy in 2016. As a result, at least 1000 people, most of whom were in the region’s war-torn city of Aleppo, have died in the province of Tinmar alone. Seismologists describe the rupture between the Anatolian and Arabian plates as over 100 km. The earthquake hit
