More Than 3,700 Dead In Turkey and Syria As Earthquake Rescues Continue

Early on Tuesday morning, the night sky in Turkey filled with the cries and sobs of those in search of missing relatives and friends. The magnitude 7.8 quake that ripped through Turkey and its neighbor to the East, Syria, has taken the lives of more than 3,700 and caused countless more to lose their homes. With temperatures dropping, freezing winter weather has made the plight of the affected even worse.

People cling to any hope of rescue they may still have as the screams of those still trapped in rubble can be heard. Deniz, a local resident, said, “They’re making noises but nobody is coming.
