The impact of the devastating disaster has left nearly 5000 dead and countless more injured. Images of rubble and desperate citizens trying to free survivors from the ruins take an emotional toll on those watching.

The heartbreaking video of one of the aftershocks caught on live TV serves as a harsh reminder of the power of the earthquake. In the footage, reporter Yuksel Akalan narrates the horror unfolding before him: "As we were heading to the rubble to (film) search and rescue efforts, there were two consecutive aftershocks with a loud noise, and the building you are seeing on my left was brought down to earth.
