The San Francisco Superior Court on Friday released a series of updates and materials on last year’s hammer attack against Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The updates included graphic body-cam footage, audio from police interviews with the suspect, the 911 call Paul Pelosi made while in peril, and home surveillance video.

The body-cam video shows officers’ rushed entrance into the house, while both Paul and the alleged assailant, David DePape, have a hand on the hammer. When told to drop the hammer by one of the officers, DePape says, “Nope” before catching the hammer from Pelosi and lunging toward him. The officers managed to subdue DePape and handcuff him.

Surveillance video footage captured by security camera outside the Pelosi residence shows DePape with several bags, including a large backpack. After removing the hammer from the bag, he used it to break a glass door of the back porch in an effort to enter the home.

Paul Pelosi’s 911 call reveals how he had to sound matter of fact while subtly requesting aid, then becoming more frantic when the dispatcher initially seemed unaware of the situation.

The attack on October 28th of last year was an unfortunate tragedy. Reports of the release of such graphic evidence serve to remind us that even those in positions of political power are still susceptible to such acts of violence.

Erik Ten Hag has urged Manchester United to put an end to their six-year trophy drought as they face Nottingham Forest in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal on Wednesday. Ten Hag has won six trophies with Ajax, and he sees the Carabao Cup as a chance to propel United to more success. “It's the best feeling you can have, winning a trophy,” the Dutchman said. “I think the fans here have some experience, especially the older ones, in this period Manchester United didn't win trophies is too long. We have to do it again."

United come off a 3-2 Premier League loss to Arsenal and are currently fourth in the table, while Forest are 13th in their first season in the top flight since 1999. Sports betting expert Jon "Buckets" Eimer is up more than $3,000 on his Premier League predictions since the start of 2022, and now he is taking aim at the Carabao Cup matchup between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.

Nottingham Forest have seen a significant improvement in their underlying numbers since about November, and their home form is a major strength with an xG difference of +0.09 per 90 this season. Meanwhile, United's defense has improved greatly under manager Erik ten Hag, but there remain questions about the attacking trio as Anthony Martial is out with injury. This is a crucial match that could possibly mark the beginning of the end of their six-year drought, and both teams are hungry for the taste of silverware.

Tuesday evening in Duxbury, a woman allegedly killed two of her small children before attempting to take her own life, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said. Police received a 911 call from a man arriving at his home who reported a suicide attempt of a woman jumping out of a window.

Upon arriving at 47 Summer St., responders found a 5-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy unconscious and showing signs of trauma. First responders then located the woman, who had been attempting a suicide by jumping out the window of the house. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The two children were pronounced dead at a hospital, while an eight-month-old who was also found in the house was flown to a Boston trauma center and remains in treatment.

"This is an unimaginable, senseless tragedy," said Cruz at a press briefing. He also noted that everyone found in the home appears to be related. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities not yet releasing identities of those involved.

On Wednesday, senior administration officials announced that the US' planned delivery of Abrams tanks to Ukraine is expected to take months to complete. The tanks, which would be procured under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, are part of the US' efforts to strengthen Ukraine's defense forces.

The beginning of the procurement process sets the stage for further assistance from the US. According to the officials, training will be provided to Ukraine's forces to ensure the safe handling and use of the military equipment. This is due to the Abrams tanks' immense power and destructive capability when used in combat.

The deliveries of the tanks to Ukraine mark a significant move that will help protect and strengthen Ukraine's defense forces. While it will take months for the tanks to arrive, the US is working to quickly implement the program, owing to the defense aid's importance.

With both Stuttgart and Mainz 05 strugging to maintain good defensive recorods this season, there is sure to be fireworks when the two sides face each other in the Bundesliga this Saturday.

Coming into the match on the back of extended winterpause, Mainz will be looking for a change of fortunes following a winless run of 4 matches (0-1-3) before the break and will be looking to capitalize on Stuttgart's inconsistency of late. Adding to the hosts woes, left-back Borna Sosa is an injury doubt, leaving them without a key attacking outlet.

Neither side can boast a strong record at the back, leading many to predict an open affair which could end in a draw.

Bruno Labbadia makes his return for a second spell at Stuttgart boss, look to make good of his home court advantage and continue the fine form established by interim manager Michael Wimmer, having won each of his home games while in charge. He is also looking to achieve a record unseen since his first spell as manager in 2012, 4 consecutive home victories.

Stuttgart currently sit in the relegation play-off zone, while Mainz have struggled away from the Rhine despite their impressive overall record.

Follow all the action and updates as the two squads battle it out for the win on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart.

Tension between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy has been on the rise since their dispute over Reed's joining of LIV Golf, but now their feud has escalated after an incident on the range at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Reports from the range have McIlroy snubbing Reed's attempt to say hello and Reed throwing a tee in the World No. 1's direction in disgust.

Spectators on the range were struck by the incident and reported tension between the two that goes even further back, as during last year's BMW International, Sergio Garcia cursed at fellow DP World Tour players after being banned from the Scottish Open and fined for defecting to LIV Golf. McIlroy has stated that he's uncomfortable with players teeing up in both camps, and post-incident, he professed his awareness, saying: "Patrick came up to say hello and I didn't really want him to...and if roles were reversed and I'd have thrown that tee at him, I'd be expecting a lawsuit." Reed, meanwhile, defends his actions, saying that he went up to say hello and after being ignored, he threw the tee in confusion. With the arbitration case being held in a fortnight to determine the tour's ability to suspend rebels of LIV Golf, the feud between McIlroy and Reed is likely to be a subject of intense discussion moving forward.

Residents of Los Angeles awoke to an early morning wake-up call when a powerful 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Malibu Wednesday. The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the earthquake at 2:03 a.m. local time, followed by a 3.5 magnitude aftershock soon after.

Apps to download to warn you before earthquakes strike

The first quake’s epicenter was approximately 10 miles south of Malibu and 9 miles deep. Reports from the USGS Shake Alert system found the earthquake was felt throughout Los Angeles and beyond. The National Weather Service has not issued a warning for tsunami activity.

Los Angeles Fire Department Nicholas Prange said all 106 neighborhood fire stations are conducting a strategic survey around their districts, including transportation infrastructures, large places of assemblage, apartment buildings and power-lines.

Celebrities such as Chance The Rapper, Josh Gad and ICY GRL took to Twitter to report the shake. “That earthquake” ICY GRL posted, accompanied by a hiding-behind-hands emoji. Others described the experience on social media. One Twitter user wrote, “You know you’re a Californian when you’re sitting in your bed waiting for it to get worse while you scroll and sip tea.”

At the time of reporting, there have been no initial reports of injuries or damage in the region. California and Nevada are hit with an average of 25 earthquakes of magnitudes 4.0 to 5.0 each year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

This is a breaking news story, more to follow.

Residents of the Mid-South were warned on Wednesday to keep a close eye on the weather as a Tornado Watch was issued for a large swath of the region. Fortunately, the watch was later canceled; however, severe storms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are expected to move through the area.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an enhanced risk, level 3 out of 5, of severe weather across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama. The SPC cautions that wind gusts of over 70 mph, hail up to 2 inches, and a few tornadoes may be expected from the storms.

Heavy rain is already affecting residents in central and west Texas, with the main severe activity likely to develop midday and overnight. The concern for rotating storms capable of producing tornadoes and hail will move east throughout the evening and overnight, so those in the Houston and New Orleans metro areas should expect storms to roll through their regions in the afternoon and evening, respectively.

The Weather Prediction Center has issued a risk for flooding on Tuesday due to the heavy rainfall expected from the storms, and residents should prepare for rainfall up to a couple of inches, particularly in east Texas. So, while the region is no longer under a Tornado Watch, severe weather is still a risk and people should continue to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions.

German rock festivals Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park have cancelled PANTERA’s planned appearance this June following an outcry over vocalist Philip Anselmo's past racist remarks. The reunion of the surviving members -- Anselmo and Rex Brown (bass), alongside touring guitarist Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) -- was met with criticism over January 2016 “Dimebash” event at the Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood, where Anselmo made a Nazi-style salute and appeared to scream “white power”.

Amidst additional scrutiny of the fact that Rock Im Park is set to take place in Nurnberg, where Hitler supporters held a series of Nazi party rallies between 1933 and 1938, the German Green Party called for Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park organizers to cancel PANTERA's appearances. The Green's spokeswoman for the Greens against racism and right-wing extremism, Reka Lorincz, called it “the deliberate misuse of former Nazi premises for the staging and reproduction of racist and inhuman ideologies.”

Foo Fighters have since been announced to fill the slot left by PANTERA, stating they are “see[ing] you Friday, June 2nd at Rock Am Ring and Sunday the June 4th at Rock Im Park.” While Machine Head frontman, Robb Flynn, argued that there was no white wine backstage and that no apology could fix the incident, PANTERA’s Vinnie Paul’s estate has shared their opinion on the reunion, stating that “there can never be a PANTERA reunion without Vinnie and Dime.” Despite this, the band's controversial reunion has come to an end before it began, as fans were left with an unprecedented reaction that left PANTERA without the stage.

Northwest Ohio is no stranger to snow, but so far this season has felt lackluster. According to WTVG, Cleveland has only seen 9.4 inches of snow since November 13th. That's 19 inches less than typically experienced this time each year. However, the Power of 5 Weather Team is tracking two systems that could bring additional snowfall to Northeast Ohio.

Saturday will feature flurries but is expected to stay primarily dry. The real action begins Sunday when an area of low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico and a second down in the plains begin to merge, bringing widespread light snow to the region. Mid-morning will feature a rain to snow mix, transitioning over to all snow by the afternoon and continuing into the evening.

Most locations should expect 1-3 inches of snow, with lake-effect snow lingering into Monday. Another 1-2 inches could fall in the Snowbelt. While this isn't a lot of snow, it could be enough to cause travel disruptions.

Finally, a third system might bring more wintry precipitation by the middle of the week. To stay safe on the roads, residents should heed snow emergency warnings and use caution while driving during any level of emergency.

At the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, an independent from Arizona, spoke on a panel with a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers and governors about the current state of democracy.

Sinema stood her ground on refusing to eliminate the filibuster, a long-standing rule that requires support from 60% of lawmakers to pass most legislation. Despite immense pressure from the rest of the Democratic Party, she stood her ground in support of a free and fair election, saying "the push by one political party to eliminate an important guardrail and an institution in our country may have been premature and overreaching, in order to get the short-term victories they wanted."

The panel then shifted to discussing the support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia. U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, a Republican from Florida, also discussed how the United States intends to liberate Europe in 2023, just like it did in 1945.

Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had words of his own to say about the forum, which many deemed irresponsible after its 2016 ad campaign stated, "Welcome to 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better." Despite not being invited, Musk took to his newly acquired social media platform over the weekend to make a series of quips aimed at the global organization.

Sinema's comments in Davos served as a reminder that democratic dialogue between both sides of the aisle is still alive and well.

Residents of Hale and Autauga Counties have been able to breathe a collective sigh of relief as FEMA declared last week’s storms eligible for federal assistance. With more storms barreling towards Alabama, EMA Directors Ernie Baggett and Russ Weeden worked in collaboration with State EMA and FEMA officials to quantify the damage, costs, and total homes affected by the disaster.

In Hale County, 92 homes were affected, 30 of them destroyed, with an estimated damage cost of over $2 million. Baggett noted that the two storm shelters, located at First Baptist Church Posey Crossroads and Boones Chapel Baptist Church, could accommodate up to 250 people in the event of further severe weather. He went on to remind residents to keep their weather radios and phones fully charged and not to rely solely on sirens.

Meanwhile in Autauga County, the storm destroyed over 70 homes and displaced numerous families. Bafalis, Media Relations Specialist for FEMA noted survivors should seek contact their insurance companies first, before considering federal assistance, in order to ensure coverage for property. This includes rental assistance, childcare, medical and funeral expenses, as well as property repairs with proof of receipts.

Both counties have experienced a tumultuous start to 2023, with three recorded tornados since New Year’s Day. The declaration eased the burden for many families and allowed for further investigations into the damages incurred. At this time, further weather warnings have been issued for the area, and residents are advised to remain attentive.

Fans of the Dallas Metroplex have a lot to look forward to on Sunday. It's a day of sports with the Mavericks squaring off against the Los Angeles Clippers in a critically important game at American Airlines Center and the Cowboys set to make playoff history in the Divisional Round matchup against their long-time rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.

In an effort to make sure Mavs fans can take in both games, the NBA has moved the tip-off of the Mavericks–Clippers match to 1:30 p. m.

The Mavericks have been on a good run. Led by a revitalized Reggie Bullock, they could be in line to face the Clippers again come April if they keep up the current level of play. After a slow start with a shooting slump in the first 40 games shooting 31 percent from distance, Bullock's game has reached a new level in the last seven games. He's been shooting an unbelievable 52 percent from three-pointers and averaging 12.7 points.

The Dallas Mavericks will look to take advantage of their momentum against the 24-24 Clippers and put themselves in the driver's seat for a strong playoff run. After the game ends at 4:30 pm, Mavs fans can switch channels and watch the Cowboys’ attempt to etch their name in the books with a much-anticipated victory. The Cowboys and 49ers kick off at 5:30 pm. Regardless of who wins on Sunday, it's set to be a great day of sports in the Dallas Metroplex.

The L.A. Clippers and Dallas Mavericks face off Sunday in what could be a thrilling matchup, but the status of key players Nikola Jokic and Luke Kennard remain uncertain. Michael Malone, head coach of the Denver Nuggets, announced that Bones Hyland will not be playing, but Jokic could potentially be available depending on how he feels after warming up. Meanwhile, Clippers' guard Kennard, who is nursing a calf injury, did not participate in Saturday's practice, making it likely that he will miss Sunday's game. More information will become available when the injury reports are released, but it is clear that the availability of two of the game's biggest stars could ultimately decide who will take home the win.

The Los Angeles Lakers rose to the challenge, snapping the Memphis Grizzlies' 11-game winning streak with a thrilling 122-121 victory on Friday. Thanks to a hero performance from guard Dennis Schroder, who scored 19 points and dished out 8 assists before draining a go-ahead layup and free throw late in the fourth quarter, the Lakers persevered to keep their season alive. Superstar LeBron James also stepped up, tallying 23 points.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies fought back through an impressive third quarter surge from star point guard Ja Morant, who shot 9-for-28 from the field to finish with 22 points. Despite bench support from Tyus Jones and John Konchar, each of whom contributed 20 points, a few ill-timed missed shots were ultimately the downfall of Memphis.

The game was marked with physicality and tension, with a dust-up occurring during halftime when Morant and several Grizzlies stepped in to separate fellow Memphis players Desmound Bane and Shannon Sharpe. Despite the on-court aggression, both teams played through the emotion to remain competitive until the very end.

The Lakers now prepare for their next game against the Phoenix Suns, who will be bolstered by the returns of stars Chris Paul and Cameron Johnson. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies travel to Phoenix for the fourth and final meeting with the Suns of the season.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Los Angeles Lakers have been searching for a way to bolster the roster in order to compete for a title. The Lakers have inquired about a variety of possible trade targets, most notably Bojan Bogdanovic, Myles Turner, Buddy Hield, and Cam Reddish. While a trade for Westbrook has been proposed all season, the Lakers have yet to make any major moves.

The team has also looked into Kendrick Nunn, as he has been gaining traction as a possible trade piece. With Lonnie Walker IV and Austin Reaves out with injuries, Kendrick Nunn could be sent out even though he has been playing well, nearly tying the game in the final seconds against the Sacramento Kings.

It's unclear which path the Lakers will take, but the clock is ticking with the deadline around the corner. The Lakers have prioritized strengthening the team's roster to set up their core of LeBron James and Anthony Davis for a championship run. The remaining days before the deadline may finally bring the Lakers much-anticipated trade.

Since the summer of 2022, the Lakers and their fans have had a love-hate relationship with Russell Westbrook. But after his storybook season turnaround, the rumors of his trade have quieted and the boos have become cheers.

Westbrook, who ended last season as the scapegoat on a 33-49 Los Angeles Lakers team, has come alive in his second year with the team, boosting the squad to the tune of averaging 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.7 assists as a reserve.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has praised the veteran for his willingness to switch roles and become a sixth man, leading for an impressive surge as a candidate for this year's Sixth Man of the Year Award. “It says he's selfless,” said Coach Ham. “He is willing to sacrifice. He's willing to add a new element and a new chamber to our team in terms of how balanced we are and how balanced of an attack we can have.”

With his resurgent play, Westbrook is redefining his role in the league. He is now tied for the record of most triple-doubles off the bench in league history. Meanwhile, his skill set and IQ have provided an asset to the team, albeit one the Lakers front office admittedly failed to recognize a year ago.

The story of Russell Westbrook, who has played fifteen seasons with four different teams, is one of redemption, proving himself as an unexpected MVP candidate this season.

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers made their way to the Crypto.com Arena in Sacramento for the latest installment of their rivalry with the Kings. After a wild game full of ups and downs for the Lakers, the Kings emerged victorious with a 116-111 final score.

The Lakers had a strong first quarter to take a 14-point lead over the Kings, but the Kings did not back down and managed to cut the lead to one point with just seconds left in the game. Despite a timely 3-point play by Lakers star LeBron James that tied it up, the Kings pushed past them by exploiting the Lakers' defensive gaps late in the game. Harrison Barnes effectively split a double team laid out by Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook, resulting in a foul and two foul shots.

The Lakers then blew possession of the ball, failing to get a good shot before Juan Toscano-Anderson fouled De'Aaron Fox. Fox split his shots from the free throw line and the door was opened for a game-winning three from Kendrick Nunn, clinching the game for the Kings.

Los Angeles has had a mixed record in these close-game situations, losing back-to-back games to Dallas and Philadelphia recently that furthered their old concerns. Tuesday's disappointing loss makes it clear that the Lakers still have work to do before they can lock down close victories.

At 38 years old, LeBron James continues to show no signs of physical decline as he approaches his 20th NBA season in the NBA. During a recent game between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, the moment became even more poignant when Jabari Smith Jr., a 19-year-old Rockets rookie, reminded James that he had played against his father in the Lakers’ star’s very first NBA game.

The touching moment occurred at the Staples Center (Crypto.com Arena), before James went on to put up a season-high 48 points. After the game, James reflected, “It made me feel extremely old when Jr. told me that...I just feel extremely blessed to be able to play this game and touch multiple generations.”

The Lakers win meant that James had faced eight fathers and sons in his career, beginning with the first time he faced the fathers and his recent matchups vs. their sons. Notable fathers and sons included Rick Brunson, the father of Jalon, who played against LeBron in 2003 and 2022; Adrian and AJ Griffin, the father and son James faced in 2004 and 2023; and Kenyon Martin, the father of KJ who squared off against James in 2004 and 2023.

As James pursues Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, he took a moment to joke about the personal significance of playing against the sons of his former opponents, saying, “I've had the opportunity to play against several father-son pairs and it makes me feel like crap!” Despite the sentiment, James remains a living testament to what we’re all capable of achieving with hard work and dedication, never letting age stand in his way.

Tempers flared at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night as a verbal altercation between the Memphis Grizzlies, Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, and Ja Morant's father, Tee Morant, broke out just after the second quarter buzzer signaled halftime of the Lakers-Grizzlies game. Referees and security stepped in, pulling several Grizzlies players away, including Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, Ja Morant, and Tee Morant.

Sharpe, a vocal fan of NBA star LeBron James, told ESPN that Brooks had taken offense at Sharpe's comment that he was too small to guard James. After exchanging curses, Sharpe was escorted by security off the court, though he did return to his seat after the third quarter began.

Dillon Brooks, who ended up fouling out of the game with 9 points, later said it was inappropriate for Sharpe to have been allowed to stay at the arena after the altercation, saying, "A regular pedestrian like him? No."

The matchup eventually resulted in a 122-121 Lakers win, ending the Grizzlies 11-game winning streak. Sharpe, Brooks and the Morants didn't provide any further comments on the situation. However, it's clear that they provided a halftime show like no other.

On Friday night, two middle class teams in the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks will face off before the Memphis Grizzlies try to take down the top seed in the Western Conference with a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. It's a matchup of youth versus experience as the young Grizzlies look to make a statement against the reigning champions.

The Mavericks fight without key contributor Christian Wood who is dealing with a fractured left thumb. Dallas is still led by MVP candidate Luka Doncic, who is leading the league in scoring with 33.7 points per game. They will have a difficult challenge today with Jimmy Butler and the Heat looking to rebound after a string of close losses. Miami boasts a net rating of 11.1 and have now had their starting five of Butler, Kyle Lowry, Caleb Martin, Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebao back together again.

Meanwhile, the 11-game winning streak of the Memphis Grizzlies is fueled by the best defense in the league and the return of Desmond Bane. Jaren Jackson and Steven Adams make them a team to be reckoned with. Ja Morant, the highlight factory, will aim to light up LA as the Grizzlies aim to take the #1 seed in the West. The Lakers are facing injuries of their own and have seen results to match, with a string of heartbreaking losses.

It's a fight for the top of the Western Conference- can the young's upsets the veterans? Tune in on Friday night to find out.
