Power of 5 Weather Team Tracks Two System to Bring Weekend Snow to Northeast Ohio

Northwest Ohio is no stranger to snow, but so far this season has felt lackluster. According to WTVG, Cleveland has only seen 9.4 inches of snow since November 13th. That's 19 inches less than typically experienced this time each year. However, the Power of 5 Weather Team is tracking two systems that could bring additional snowfall to Northeast Ohio.

Saturday will feature flurries but is expected to stay primarily dry. The real action begins Sunday when an area of low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico and a second down in the plains begin to merge, bringing widespread light snow to the region. Mid-morning will feature a rain to snow mix, transitioning over to all snow by the afternoon and continuing into the evening.

Most locations should expect 1-3 inches of snow, with lake-effect snow lingering into Monday. Another 1-2 inches could fall in the Snowbelt. While this isn't a lot of snow, it could be enough to cause travel disruptions.

Finally, a third system might bring more wintry precipitation by the middle of the week. To stay safe on the roads, residents should heed snow emergency warnings and use caution while driving during any level of emergency.
