Montclair State University alumnus Tog Samphel earned a $150,000 deal on Friday night’s episode of “Shark Tank.” Impressed by his AnyTongs invention, a plastic handle that turns any two utensils into tongs, the “sharks” pooled their resources together to finance the venture.

Samphel’s journey to success began with a Kickstarter campaign, which he launched in 2020 to raise $10,000 to launch his business. It ultimately brought in over $30,000, which caught the attention of “Shark Tank” producers. After eight months of auditions, Samphel headed off to California for his chance to pitch his product to the sharks.

Samphel graduated from MSU in August 2022 with his degree in Visual Arts and previously worked in digital product design and user experience. His AnyTong product boasts convenience, affordability, cleanliness, and durability and is available on Amazon. Believing in Samphel and the potential of AnyTong, the sharks agreed to front the $150,000 investment.

NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) - San Fernando Valley residents can now get a taste of Japan with the grand opening of the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Northridge on Saturday, January 21. The store, located in the Walnut Grove Shopping Center near CSU Northridge, is the twelfth for the Japanese grocery store chain and the first of its kind in the North San Fernando Valley.

Mitsuwa Corporation President and CEO, Takeshi Izuma, expressed excitement to join the community in Northridge. "We are very excited to open our store in the Northridge neighborhood," Izuma said. Kennedy Wilson Brokerage, a division of Beverly Hills-based Kennedy-Wilson Properties Ltd., secured a 10-year lease on the 9,600-square-foot space.

Seth Rollins has left fans in no doubt about his opinion on CM Punk after making his sentiments very clear in an interview today. The former WWE Champion has been a controversial figure throughout his career, having walked out of WWE after the 2014 Royal Rumble and then being released later that year on the day of his wedding. Punk turned up in AEW in 2021, becoming AEW World Champion at Double or Nothing in 2022 but the reign was ultimately hampered by injury.

Rumours have persisted about Punk's future with some even suggesting he could make a sensational return to WWE if his contract situation with AEW is resolved. However, it seems unlikely he will be welcomed back with open arms, with Rollins labelling him a "cancer" and warning him to "stay away" from WWE.

Speaking to Wrestling Inc.'s Nick Hausman ahead of the 2023 Royal Rumble, Rollins said “Philly Phil, stay away. Stay away, you cancer, get away from me forever. I don't like Phil. I don't like Phil, he's a jerk. Did we just figure that out? Everybody in the room is like, 'did he say that?' Yeah, he's a jerk. Come on. We figured it out over there, we knew it over here. I don't want him back. Go do something else. Bye bye. See you later."

It seems unlikely that Rollins' comments will go down well with Punk and one has to wonder if the two will ever share the same ring again in the future.

Kevin Owens continued to outplay the entire Bloodline on the final SmackDown before the Royal Rumble. Owens remained undefeated against Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn, and the Usos heading into his match against the WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

The match between Owens and Sikoa ended in a No Contest after Zayn showed up to the arena in secret and got involved in the action. While the Usos were quickly sent out of the building by authority figure Adam Pearce, Owens and Zayn stayed locked in a fierce staredown.

Brock Lesnar also made an appearance, officially declaring himself an entrant in the men's 2023 Royal Rumble match after taking out his rival, Bobby Lashley.

It will be interesting to see if The Bloodline has any further influence on Roman Reigns ahead of his showdown against Owens in the Rumble. Zayn's loyalty to the group hangs in the balance as his future is uncertain.

States that issued tax refunds and stimulus checks in 2022 - such as California, Colorado, Idaho and New Jersey - are still finding ways to provide financial relief to those in need. California, for example, issued checks of up to $1,050, based on their income, tax-filing status, and household size. Colorado meanwhile, issued $750 rebates to those who had filed taxes by the October 17th 2022 deadline. Similarly, Idaho residents who had filed their taxes in 2020 and 2021 were eligible for a $300 rebate. Finally, New Jersey homeowners with incomes of up to $150,000 were eligible for a $1,500 tax rebate.

In the end, it would seem that inflation levels alone cannot predict whether stimulus checks will be necessary this year or not. While policymakers must carefully assess the state of the economy, states are taking action now to ensure the public gets the financial assistance they need.

Goals galore highlighted this round of matches with Gavan Holohan leading the way in Grimsby's 1-0 win against Luton, and Duncan Culley's hat-trick in Walthamstow's 3-0 win against Shrewsbury. Southampton made a statement, defeating Blackpool 1-0, and Scott Brown's effort for Hibernian boosted them to a 3-0 against Aberdeen.

Rick Astley has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Yung Gravy and the artists behind his hit single "Betty (Get Money)" for allegedly using an impersonation of his voice. Astley, who rose to prominence with the release of his '80s anthem "Never Gonna Give You Up," claims that the song "conspired to include a deliberate and nearly indistinguishable imitation" of his voice without permission.

The vocalist's legal team argue that although Yung Gravy purchased a license to use the instrumental version of Astley's song, he did not receive permission to use Rick's voice. The lawsuit also alleges that Gravy willfully accepted the risks of copying Astley's voice and stated in an interview with Billboard that he "basically remade" Rick's voice for the song "because it makes it easier legally."

Additionally, Astley's team maintains that the release of the single has damaged future opportunities for the singer to collaborate with other artists. "While defendants have profited from theft of Mr. Astley’s unique vocal property," the court papers read, "Mr. Astley has been deprived of the opportunity to develop a collaborative recording project with an artist of his choice and creative control."

The news follows a long-standing legal precedent dating back to a 1988 case between Bette Midler and Ford Motor Co., wherein Midler sued the company for hiring actors to impersonate her voice over a series of ads without her agreement.

Gravy, who has seen major success with the record, responded that the allegations were "without merit" in an Instagram post.

Villarreal will be looking to return to winning ways in La Liga this Sunday when they host Girona at Estadio de la Ceramica. The Yellow Submarine endured a 3-2 Copa del Rey defeat to Real Madrid in midweek, after leading 2-0 at half-time, but look to spur themselves to a bounce back win in the league.

Villarreal currently hold 5th place in the La Liga table, with 28 points from 17 games, while Girona sit 11th, having collected 21 points. Both teams come into the match on good form, with Villarreal unbeaten in their last six La Liga matches and Girona unbeaten in their past seven.

Although Villarreal have been strong at home this season, picking up 16 points from seven matches, Girona have had mixed fortunes away, collecting only six points from their eight matches on their travels. However, they will enter the contest off the back of a 2-1 victory over Sevilla in La Liga last weekend, with Yangel Herrera scoring an 88th-minute winner for the hosts.

Given the tight nature of the league table this season, picking up three points for either side could prove critical in their ambition for a European place. With Villarreal hard pressed to rebound from their midweek disappointment, expect the Yellow submarine to put up a strong fight against Girona, making both teams scoring a good bet.
