After a week of international drama, Navy divers are working to recover pieces of the Chinese spy balloon shot down by U.S. forces off the coast of South Carolina. Under orders of President Biden, Pentagon officials took the decisive action to protect American military installations from espionage. Intelligence analysts speculate the balloon was intended to test the limits of U.S. radar or warfare capabilities.

The incident has reignited tensions between the two countries, but it has also provided an unexpected intelligence opportunity for the United States. An authoritative Pentagon official confirmed five Chinese balloons have circumnavigated the globe and China conducted 20-30 balloon missions worldwide in the last decade.

The true secrets and capabilities of the spy balloon are still unknown, with speculation the balloon was dispersing smaller spy devices to try to observe clandestine targets. But military officials believe any such data will be limited and not advantageously different compared to what China could get from a satellite.

On Monday morning, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria, leaving over 10 people dead and many more injured or trapped beneath the rubble. The earthquake, likely triggered by the East Anatolian Fault, was quickly followed by a 6.7-magnitude aftershock, with more aftershocks occurring later in the day. Reports from Turkey's disaster agency show that multiple buildings were destroyed and numerous casualties are expected.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan released a statement on Twitter, saying,"search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched" and that the priority was to retrieve those trapped and injured. In addition, Syria's interior ministry reported that "entire buildings have collapsed" in the quake, with people being trapped underneath rubble. Syrian Civil Defense urged people to evacuate their buildings and gather in open areas.

Residents in Lebanon also felt the quake, which shook buildings for about 40 seconds.

Donald Trump and his administration are denying recent claims by the Biden administration that Chinese spy balloons flew above the United States while Trump was in office. Several senior Trump Administration officials spoke with POLITICO on the condition of anonymity and all said they were never told of such incidents occurring when they were in office.

Former President Donald Trump told Fox News on Sunday, "This never happened. It would have never happened."

The Biden Administration released a statement on Saturday claiming Chinese spy balloons soared over the United States multiple times under Trump's rule. The Pentagon refused to provide any additional information on the statements and cited their classified nature. However, they did note that balloons were detected "hundreds" of times usually deemed harmless.

On Saturday, a senior DoD official reminded reporters that these balloons flew above the U.S. three times during the last administration. The Trump Administration was quick to call the claims false.

The Knicks and Nets faced off in the NBA’s feature match on Rivals Week, the stage set for an electrifying night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Kyrie Irving, a former New York and New Jersey resident, was looking to show out in his home court. The Nets had ruled out four of its five starters while the Knicks had ruled out three of its own.

Irving rose to the occasion, as he exploded late in the fourth quarter to lead the Nets to a 122-115 victory over their crosstown rivals. He scored 21 of his 32 points in the final 9 ½ minutes, effortlessly draining shots off the pick and roll and leading the NBA's best field goal shooting percentage team. Joe Harris added 16 points, Nic Claxton had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Royce O'Neale chipped in 14 points and Seth Curry had 14 points to contribute to their ninth consecutive win over the Knicks.

Jalen Brunson's 26 points and RJ Barrett's 24 points were not enough to overcome the Nets. Despite the Knicks proficiency in rebounds, turnovers, and free throw percentage, their inability to handle the pressure defensively and poor shooting percentages ultimately cost them the game.

Through his performance, Kyrie Irving proved yet again why he is one of the best point guards in the league, showing that the Knicks- Nets match up is not just a rivalry on paper.

The mysterious Chinese spy balloon overflight of the United States came to a head Saturday night when it was shot down over the American Atlantic coast. It was a stunning public spectale of a foreign power brazenly entering US airspace, leaving the Biden administration to explain the situation while trying to contain Republican criticism.

According to an authoritative Pentagon official with direct knowledge of the incident, this was only the latest mission in a larger Chinese strategy. It is believed that the Chinese have attempted a total of 5 globalcircumnavigation balloon missions, with a total of 20-30 balloon missions over the past decade.

While the balloons don’t seem to gather significantly more intelligence than Chinese satellites in low Earth orbit, they can provide better quality granularity in their images. Speculation of the balloon dispursing smaller spy devices has not yet been confirmed. Officials are currently attempting to capture the payload of the balloon, which

The Pentagon is tracking a large Chinese surveillance balloon as it flies over the continental United States. The white balloon is roughly the size of three buses and is flying an altitude of around 60,000 feet. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has claimed it is being used for meteorological purposes, but the U.S. government has raised suspicion that it is an act of espionage.

The balloon was first seen on February 3, 2023 at around 4:21 p.m. ET in Reed Point, Montana. Over the next several hours, it was filmed moving east through Billings and South Dakota and Nebraska, before reaching Sabetha, Kansas and Saint Joseph, Missouri. By 11:56 a.m. ET, it had advanced to Lee's Summit, Missouri, and it is now heading towards North Carolina.

Several civilians have shared footage of the balloon, posting their sightings and speculation of the

On Super Bowl Sunday, gathering around the big screen doesn't have to just involve beer and chips anymore. With the right burger blend and some of Fieri's recipes, this year’s Super Bowl will prove to be the tastiest one yet.

Fieri, host of the shows "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and "Guy's Grocery Games," told the Daily Meal that 80-20 should be the go-to lean-to-fat ratio for tasty sliders. He also suggested chuck brisket short rib mix to guarantee that the sliders won't be dry. Beef not the only thing on the table? Fieri also has a special Nacho Average Torta Slider recipe with a company called King's Hawaiian. The mini nacho sandwiches are sure to make any game-day spread one to remember.

On Saturday, US fighter jets successfully shot down a high-altitude balloon that had been identified as a suspected spying device in the Atlantic Ocean. President Joe Biden praised the action as a success, while China has expressed their "strong dissatisfaction and protest" in response.

The US believes the balloon was involved in espionage, a statement the Chinese strongly refuted, claiming it is a civilian research vessel that had been blown off course. China's Foreign Ministry released a statement saying the US had "seriously violated international practice".

However, US officials pushed back on Chinese claims, stating that the balloon was in fact a Chinese surveillance balloon that had purposely entered US airspace for espionage purposes. Intelligence analysts also point out that the balloon was seeking to monitor certain sensitive sites. The officials further noted that a second balloon elsewhere in the Americas had similar technical characteristics.

China has said they will "resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of relevant companies

Sunday will be a pivotal day for two teams in the battle for Premier League survival as Nottingham Forest and Leeds United meet at The City Ground. This week, a deep cold has swept across the United States, with temperatures in parts of Northern Maine feeling as cold as -69 degrees and winds feeling as cold as -50 degrees. This severe cold has taken lives, caused power outages, and has required those experiencing homelessness to seek out the city's emergency shelters.

The cold has been particularly dangerous in Texas and Arkansas, with an ice storm causing trees to snap and power lines to break, leaving some 150,000 homes and businesses in Texas and 35,000 in Arkansas without power. At least eight deaths are attributed to the storm.

In the Northeast, temperatures have hit an extreme low threshold, prompting many cities to issue a “cold blue” alert, which provides extra resources for those experiencing homelessness. New York City’s Department of Homeless services issued a “cold blue” Friday, offering emergency shelter and directing those without homes

Victor Osimhen was on fire this past Sunday, scoring two goals to lead Napoli to a 3-0 victory against Spezia. Napoli’s 16 point lead against Inter Milan places them in prime position for the Serie A title.

Victor Osimhen was denied a goal in the 62nd from an offensive foul, but he redeemed himself with a 68th minute header from a Kvaratskhelia assist. Osimhen doubled his tally with another header in the 73rd. With the win, Spezia is still five points above the relegation zone while Osim

The Northeast was hit with an extreme cold snap on Friday, breaking records in its wake. Temperatures dipped to a remarkable -46 F on Mount Washington, New Hampshire, with winds at a powerful 97 mph. Further North, in Maine and Acadia National Park, the winds felt like -62 F and -31 F to -61 F respectively. To compound the danger, an ice storm spread throughout Arkansas and Texas, including power outages and killed at least 8 people.

For the first time ever, Florida Atlantic has passed rival Miami in the AP Top 25 poll, taking the #19 spot and leaving the Hurricanes behind at #23. The Owls have been on a winning streak that has stretched 19 games, finally clinching the top spot within the state.

Still, Miami keeps competing strong, led by esteemed coach Jim Larranaga. Although the Hurricanes (16-5, 7-4 ACC) lost a heartbreaker on the road to Pittsburgh Saturday, their split the prior week against Florida State and the Panthers demonstrates their strength in the ACC.

FAU (21-1, 11-0 Conference USA) will continue to attempt to extend their streak with two games on the road this week. Miami, on the other hand, will play three of their next four at home, and Larranaga points out that the crowd can make all the difference in those close games.

It's going to be a historic and unforgettable evening in Durham this Saturday night as Duke and North Carolina will meet for the 259th time in college basketball's bluest blood rivalry. Uncharacteristically, both teams will enter the hardwood unranked, a feat extremely rare and hardly seen in the past. However, that doesn’t mean the stakes any lower and both teams will give it their all to produce what’s set to be an exciting showdown.

The all-time series has 143 wins in favor of North Carolina, with Duke having 115 victories, and 55-51 lead in Durham, including 46-39 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. In their last 100 games, the sides are even, with Duke leading just by seventeen points.

Despite all the chaos surrounding the 2021-22 basketball season, both teams have still managed to have solid, if not usual high levels of performance. The Heels

The US was abuzz last week when news spread of a Chinese spy balloon drifting through the stratosphere, 60,000 feet above Montana. President Joe Biden was briefed on the situation and immediately wanted to take it down, however, by then, it was too late as the debris form the balloon posed a threat to many American cities and towns along its path.

The massive white orb, carrying a dangerously large payload, had been detected by North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on January 28th as it flew from Alaska into Canada and eventually back towards the US. Although NORAD had previously witnessed Chinese spy balloons, this one was different. It was judged to be both an intelligence risk and a physical threat.

With this information, an F-22 fighter jet was sent to intercept and fire a heat-seeking missile, ultimately causing the balloon to crash into the Atlantic Ocean. This week-long journey had far reaching diplomatic

President Joe Biden is still pushing forward with a "unity agenda" despite reports of a High Altitude Balloon from China being detected above the US. On Friday, Biden's National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, had a phone call with China's state counselor, Wang Yi, about the balloon. After a brief three-hour flight, the sphere was reported to have landed in a Missouri cornfield.

During the 40-minute phone call, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told China that the incident was an “irresponsible act”, and that the timing of the release was “detrimental to the substantive discussions". Defense officials found the balloon over Montana, which borders one of America's three nuclear missile silo fields.

Biden had initially declined to shoot down the balloon, with concern of debris potentially injuring innocent people below. Residents in Montana, Kansas and Missouri
