President Joe Biden is still pushing forward with a "unity agenda" despite reports of a High Altitude Balloon from China being detected above the US. On Friday, Biden's National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, had a phone call with China's state counselor, Wang Yi, about the balloon. After a brief three-hour flight, the sphere was reported to have landed in a Missouri cornfield.
During the 40-minute phone call, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told China that the incident was an “irresponsible act”, and that the timing of the release was “detrimental to the substantive discussions". Defense officials found the balloon over Montana, which borders one of America's three nuclear missile silo fields.
