Country music singer Lainey Wilson is preparing for the 2023 CMT Music Awards, where she is nominated for four awards, including Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. The up-and-coming artist spoke to HELLO! about one of her dear friends and mentor, Miranda Lambert, whom she described as one of the first people she contacts during tough times. Wilson discussed the competitive nature of the country music industry, and noted that while some people in the community put up an act of being friendly and supportive, others are genuine in their support of other artists. In terms of winning an award, Wilson stated that it's "kind of like they got no reason to not cheer you on" when people know how much work has gone into an artist's career. Wilson has picked up her first-ever CMT award for Collaborative Video of the Year along with HARDY for "wait in the truck", an accolade she is extremely proud of as it highlights how powerful the song is.
