Violent Kidnapping of Four Americans in Mexico

Four Americans were kidnapped by armed suspects in Mexico last week, two were found dead while two survivors were returned to U.S. soil. In response, the White House has condemned the crime as “unacceptable”, coordinating with the Mexican government, State Department, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to ensure justice is done. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has promised a thorough investigation with “no impunity” for the perpetrators responsible for the kidnapping.

Latavia “Tay” McGee, cousin Shaeed Woodard, and friends Zindell Brown, along with a fifth, Mexican individual, had traveled from South Carolina to Matamoros in Mexico as McGee planned to undergo a cosmetic procedure. According to U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, a violent shootout ensued and the kidnappers forced the four Americans into their pickup truck, leading to the unfortunate casualty of their fifth companion.
