Rodriguez is a long-time activist with the Democratic party and has previously worked for Barack Obama's White House. She has close ties to Vice President Kamala Harris, having served in both her Senate staff and her campaign for presidency in 2020. As a deeply connected Latino official, Rodriguez has been the director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs since President Biden took office in 2021. She also served as a senior adviser for Latino outreach in Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. Rodriguez is expected to manage a re-election campaign that differs vastly from Biden's previous campaign, as public events will replace the pandemic-era aversion to them. The speculation of her appointment is not yet final, and the Biden-Harris campaign team is tight-lipped about any personnel decisions related to the campaign.
