Four US citizens were tragically kidnapped at gunpoint in Mexico last week by what is believed to be a Mexican drug cartel mistaking them for Haitian drug smugglers. The ambush took place in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas, Mexico near the border of Texas.
It was later confirmed by the Governor of Tamaulipas, Americo Villarreal Anaya, that two of the Americans, who were Latavia "Tay" McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Eric James Williams and Zindell Brown, had died, while the remaining two are safe and in the hands of authorities. Mexico's president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has expressed his condolences for the families of the victims and affirmed the government's commitment to peace and tranquillity.
