Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has reportedly been accepting trips from Republican megadonor Harlan Crow for more than two decades without proper disclosure, according to a recent investigation from ProPublica. Traveling on Crow's private jet and even vacationing on his superyacht, Thomas appears to have ignored financial disclosure rules that require him to declare gifts valued over $415, and may have also breached federal disclosure laws by not disclosing Crow's gifts of yacht and jet travel. Crow has said that he would never seek to influence Thomas on legal or political issues, yet these trips raise ethical questions given the other guests that Crow has invited, which include GOP donors and executives from major organizations such as Verizon and PricewaterhouseCoopers. This latest report raises further concerns about conservative justices on the Supreme Court politicizing their roles in such an astroturfed 6-3 conservative majority, having already stripped millions of American women of their abortion rights.
