Did Everyone Escape Unharmed from New London Church Collapse?

Emergency crews responded to a building collapse at an old church in New London on Thursday afternoon. The collapse occurred at the former First Congregational Church on 66 Union St, which shares space with Engaging Heaven Church. According to witnesses, the collapse happened around 1:30 p.m. and emergency crews quickly responded, asking residents to steer clear of the area. The church posted on their Facebook page that everyone was accounted for, and there were no injuries. Gov. Ned Lamont is in touch with emergency management officials and has deployed state emergency services personnel and equipment to assist in response efforts. The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time. Mayor Mike Passero is expected to hold a press conference later in the day.
