New NASCAR Team Bypasses Daytona 500, Targets March Debut

Finishing Line Motorsports Marketing have announced their debut into the NASCAR Cup Series in 2023 with the No. 80 entry, but they will be bypassing the Daytona 500. The team is aiming for a debut in March at Phoenix Raceway instead, with JJ Yeley set to be the driver of the No. 80 Ford Mustang.

The team has been in operation since 1997 and has marketing experience in both NASCAR and IndyCar. With the Next Gen cars being used in the NASCAR Cup Series, the team had rendered several cars on the No. 80 prior to its announcement. Their parent company is based in Carefree, Arizona and the race shop is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Daytona 500 this year is expected to have 42 cars on the official entry list, with the additional six entries needing to qualify or race their way in. These entries include Chandler Smith (No. 13 Kaulig Racing),
