On Friday afternoon, the US military shot down an unidentified object flying at a high altitude of 40,000 feet over Alaska. The object was about the size of a small car and moving at speeds between 20 and 40 mph before it was targeted. While the US government has declared the takedown of the object “a success”, few details about the nature of the mysterious flying object have been disclosed.

The sudden presence of the unknown object was first detected by American radar around 9pm on Thursday evening. Acting out of “abundance of caution”, the airspace over Alaska was briefly closed down and the object was eventually targeted by an American F-22 fighter around 1:45pm ET Friday afternoon.
