US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has warned that China is considering providing weapons and ammunition to aid Russia's war in Ukraine, and the US is making it clear that this would have "serious consequences" for the relationship between the two countries.
In an interview with CBS on Saturday, Blinken said the US has been concerned that China may provide weapons since the beginning of the attempted Russian takeover of Ukraine. During a meeting with top Chinese diplomat, Wang Yi, at the Munich Security Conference, Blinken warned China against providing lethal equipment to a country the US has judged as committing crimes against humanity.
China has denied that Russia has requested any military equipment, however the US believes Chinese companies may already be supplying the mercenary wing, Wagner Group, with surveillance information.
