SpaceX Awaits Federal Approval for Historic Launch of Starship Rocket

SpaceX is preparing to make history this March, pending the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) approval of a launch license. The company plans to fly its Starship and Super Heavy rocket - the most powerful rocket to ever reach orbit - and run through its first orbital demonstration after completing a successful static-fire test earlier this month.

Gary Henry, the senior advisor for national security space solutions for SpaceX, assured Tuesday at the Space Mobility Conference in Orlando that the capabilities of both the vehicle and launching pad were ready for a launch attempt. He said they "had a successful hot fire and that was really the last box to check. The vehicle is in good shape. The pad is in good shape."
