As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for yet another AFC Championship Game, the red, white, and gold spirit of the team is shining through in the city. Local businesses, like bakeries Cheri's and Connie's Cookies, are taking orders for creative fan treats such as Chiefs logo cookies and Patrick Mahomes cakes to enjoy throughout the weekend. As well, Community Blood Centers is offering a special incentive with a chance to win tickets and a parking pass to the game by donating blood between Jan 23-25.
"We usually wait until it gets really exciting in the playoffs, but we've had cookies every year that they've made it, even the years they made it to the Super Bowl," says Marisa McCall, co-owner of Cheri's Bakery.
Coupled with a flyover by four T-38s from Whiteman Air Force Base, a halftime performance by American rapper Fat Joe, and a performance of the national anthem by United States Navy Veteran Generald Wilson, Sunday's game promises to be extra special for the city of Kansas City.
