Will Jake Gyllenhaal's Road House Be Released in Theaters?

The highly anticipated Road House remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor has fans excited, but there is controversy surrounding its release. Director Doug Liman is boycotting the SXSW premiere of the film in protest of Amazon's decision to bypass a theatrical release and go straight to streaming on Prime Video. Liman believes that Road House is a movie that was made for the big screen and should be given the opportunity to be seen in theaters. He argues that Amazon's decision is hurting not only him and his film, but also the entire movie industry, and could have long-lasting effects on the way films are released.

Despite the controversy, Road House is still set to be released on March 21 on Prime Video. The film is a reimagining of the 1989 cult classic starring Patrick Swayze, with Gyllenhaal taking on the role of ex-UFC fighter Dalton. McGregor, in his first major feature film role, plays Dalton's nemesis named Knox. The synopsis promises an adrenaline-fueled story set in a Florida Keys roadhouse that is not as idyllic as it seems.

Fans can expect a trailer for the film to be released soon, but the question remains: Will they have the opportunity to see Road House in theaters, or will it be limited to streaming on Prime Video?
