Haleon PLC has issued a voluntary recall for eight batches of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult cough syrups due to potential microbial contamination. The recall comes after the company discovered that the use of these products by individuals with compromised immune systems could lead to severe or life-threatening adverse events, such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infections. While the primary concern is for those with compromised immune systems, negative effects on individuals with non-compromised immune systems cannot be ruled out.
The recall affects 4-ounce and 8-ounce packages of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult cough syrups, as well as 8-ounce packages of Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult cough syrups. The affected packages can be identified by specific lot numbers and expiration dates. Haleon PLC has not received any reports of adverse effects from the use of these cough syrups but has proactively recalled the products and notified distributors and customers.
Consumers who have purchased these cough syrups are urged not to consume them. Immunocompromised individuals who have used the affected products should contact their healthcare provider for advice. For more information, customers can contact Haleon PLC's consumer relations staff at 800-245-1040.
