Despite missing their star player Luka Doncic, the Mavericks' defense was able to shut down the Kings, forcing them to commit multiple turnovers and preventing them from getting any easy looks.

The Mavericks took control of the game early, going off for 45 points in the opening quarter, the most they've scored in a quarter in the 2022-23 season. Dallas shot 64.3% from the field and 53.8% from deep, while the Kings shot 42.1% from the field and 14.3% from three. The Mavericks had eight second-chance points, while the Kings only had two.
