Senate Republicans Lash Out At Tucker Carlson’s Characterization of Deadly Jan. 6 Attack

Senate Republicans on Tuesday decried Fox News host Tucker Carlson and referred to his characterization of the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol as “peaceful chaos” as "just a lie" and "bulls---." The fierce rebuke came as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell held up a letter sent to the U.S. Capitol Police force by Chief Thomas Manger and said that he wanted to “associate” himself with the sentiment of the letter.

Senator Thom Tillis, R-NC, said he was “here” in the Capitol the day of the attack and described Carlson’s description of “a few tourists who got caught up in things” as “bullshit.” Along with McConnell, several other Senate Republicans also pushed back on Carlson’s claims that officers weren’t assaulted on
