Nick Bosa was granted the highest of accolades when he was named the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) Defensive Player of the Year. During the 16 week season, he led the NFL with 18.5 sacks and second-most in franchise history with 49 quarterback hits, and notched 51 total tackles (41 solo) as well as 19 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one pass defended. He tallied five games with multiple sacks, including a season-high 3.0 sacks against the Miami Dolphins in Week 13.
The veteran defensive lineman also earned NFCC Defensive Player of the Week celebrated Week 13 and Week 16, then crowned NFCC Defensive Player of the Month for November. Breaking the 49ers streak, Bosa has become the first player in four years to be awarded the PFWA’s Defensive Player of the Year.
