Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts Rematch for the NFC Championship

For Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts, their rivalry started in 2019 when the two faced off in the Big 12. Purdy had six touchdowns, and Hurts put up five in Oklahoma’s 41- 42 victory. But this Sunday the two will be competing for more than bragging rights - they’ll be vying for a spot in Super Bowl LVII.

When the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles meet Sunday in the NFC Championship, it’ll be a rematch of their 2019 college game. Hurts impressed with his deep throws, leading the league in touchdown passes, completing 50% of passes on throws of 25-plus air yards. The 49ers' defense must put pressure on Hurts to capitalize on his weakest part of his game.

For the 49ers, however, a significant obstacle stands in their way: injuries. Starting QB Trey Lance and backup Jimmy Garoppolo ended their season with ankle and foot injuries, leaving the 4th-string QB Josh Johnson with limited reps. When Johnson got a concussion on the opening drive of the second half, it was the injured Brock Purdy who led the team in the loss to the Eagles.

It all comes down to Sunday evening when Hurts and Purdy and their respective teams collide in an epic NFC Championship. One of these teams will be one game away from becoming NFL champions. All eyes on these two QBs as they deliver an unparalleled showdown and prove why they are two of the best in the game.
