Google Celebrates International Women's Day with 15 Women Founded Startups in Africa

This International Women's Day, Google is launching an array of initiatives empowered to support women entrepreneurs in Africa. The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa: Women Founders Cohort has selected a total of 15 startups from 8 African countries, including 3 from Nigeria. Moreover, Google is also launching two other programs, the Hustle Academy for Women-Led SMEs and a social media series celebrating inspiring women in Africa's technology sector.

The selected startups are tackling some of Africa's most pressing challenges. Alajo App is a digital piggy bank for the underbanked and non-smartphone users in Africa. Maxibuy is a cooperative inventory procurement and financial services platform for bulk buying merchants of consumer goods in Nigeria. And Tyms Africa offers instant microcredit for microenterprises in Africa, powered by ROSCA.
