The BMW 5-Series, a symbol of accessible luxury motoring, has undergone a makeover with the launch of its G60 generation. The latest iteration introduces a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and the first-ever battery-electric variant known as the i5. However, due to the declining popularity of diesel, BMW has decided not to offer the diesel option in certain markets such as the UK. It remains to be seen how this decision will impact sales, especially in fleet-driven markets. Nevertheless, the PHEV and i5 versions may help compensate for any potential decline.
The new 5-Series features a modern, yet traditional design that builds on its predecessors. The car stands out on the road with a longer rear overhang, giving it a forward-leaning appearance. The front end sports a smaller and refined version of BMW's trademark kidney grille. The i5 battery-electric variant retains the luxury features of the 5-Series while appealing to drivers who prefer a more understated design.
With its updated look and range of powertrains, the BMW 5-Series aims to maintain its prestigious status and continue to evolve in the ever-changing automotive industry.
