Richard Murdaugh Found Guilty of Murdering Wife and Son

On Thursday, a South Carolina jury found disbarred attorney Richard "Alex" Murdaugh guilty of murder in the 2021 killings of his wife and son. It took the jury less than 3 hours to convict Murdaugh of two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The victims, Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and son Paul, 22, were found fatally shot near dog kennels at the family's home on June 7, 2021. Murdaugh had lied to investigators, claiming he wasn't at the kennels before the bodies were discovered.

During the investigation and trial, prosecutors presented circumstantial evidence of Murdaugh's guilt to support the claim that he killed his family to gain sympathy and cover up financial crimes.
