Mike Pompeo announces he won't run for President in 2024

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that he will not be seeking the Republican nomination for President in 2024. Speaking on Fox News, he stated that "this isn't our moment" for him and his wife, Susan, and that he had no intention of running. Pompeo, who had been touring early primary states, had previously made moves towards running for President but has since confirmed that this will no longer happen. Pompeo, who served in the Trump administration as director of the CIA and then as Secretary of State, also obliquely criticized Donald Trump, refusing to endorse him and stating that "Americans are thirsting for people making arguments, not just tweets." Pompeo had previously been a vocal critic of Trump before serving in his administration. Despite stating that he would not run, Pompeo did not rule out returning to politics in the future, stating that "there remain many more opportunities for which the timing might be more fitting as presidential leadership becomes even more necessary."
