On Saturday, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the historic All-Star Weekend in 2024 will be hosted in Toronto, Canada. The city of Toronto has significant roots to the All-Star Game, as the first unofficial All-Star Game was held in Toronto at the Gardens as a fundraiser for Maple Leaf defenseman Ace Bailey after a career-ending head injury in 1934. In October of 1947, the All-Star Game shifted to a regular format between the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Maple Leafs, and the original six teams. This format ended in 1968 as the NHL began expansion, shifting focus to the four divisions and two conferences.
Bettman and the NHL are excited to bring the All-Star Weekend back to its roots. "Being in Toronto, where hockey is so important, we may not have 80-degree temperatures, but we've got real intensity from one of the great hockey markets in the world," said Bett
