Today President Joe Biden presented a comprehensive plan to preserve Medicare for decades to come, jumping in where Republicans have failed to provide solutions to the looming crisis.

At the heart of his plan is raising payroll taxes for those earning over $400,000 and negotiating fairer prices with big pharma; this way, Medicare's trust fund can last til 2050. Republicans have refused to accept any cuts, but have failed to offer their own solutions.

Sen. Rick Scott suggested the program should expire in five years, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed privatizing Medicare and Social Security, raising the retirement age, and leaving seniors to the "delicate mercies" of private insurers.
