Governor Gordon Signs Law Prohibiting Abortion Pills In Wyoming

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has signed a bill prohibiting the use of abortion pills in the state, allowing a separate measure restricting abortion to become law without a signature. In a statement the republican Governor acknowledged the possible lawsuit that could arise and expressed his desire for swift resolution of the constitutionality of the abortion ban in Wyoming. He is of the opinion that such resolution should come from a “vote of the people.”

A challenge to the law has already been filed in an ongoing lawsuit, whereby the Wyoming ACLU advocacy director Antonio Serrano criticized the Governor’s decision to sign the law, saying “A person’s health, not politics, should guide important medical decisions -- including the decision to have an abortion.”
