On Monday, US President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to war-ravaged Ukraine to offer his support ahead of the Russia-Ukraine war's one-year anniversary. Biden extended further military assistance, including a half-billion dollars' worth of artillery ammunition, anti-armor systems and air surveillance radars, in addition to prior US supplies of armored vehicles. The US president walked alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the war-torn nation and was met with thanks and appreciation.
With the war expected to intensify, Biden sought to unify allies in support of Ukraine and encourage their delivery of promised weapon systems. However, Zelensky was left unsatisfied with the denial of fighter jets and long-range missiles from the US and other Western allies.
