Two Staff Members Injured in Shooting at Denver East High School

Two adult faculty members were shot and injured at Denver East High School on Wednesday morning, March 22. The two victims, who are both administrators, were transported to a hospital, with one in serious condition and the other undergoing surgery for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD). The suspect is believed to be a student who had a safety plan in place to be searched for weapons before entering the school. During a search on Wednesday morning, the student allegedly shot the staff members in an office area. The student, a juvenile, fled the school, but police said that they know who he is and are working to find him. The school has been put on lockdown and students are being held in their third-period class while the police investigate. Police have shut down Colfax near the school and are asking everyone to avoid the area.
