The No.14 Miami Hurricanes suffered a hard-fought 85-78 loss to No. 21 Duke in the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament Friday night. Amidst the hard-fought battle between the two ACC powerhouses, Miami was dealt a blow when forward Norchad Omier suffered a right ankle injury just over a minute into the game.
The incident occurred when Omier rebounded a missed free-throw only to land on the foot of Duke’s Dereck Lively II, causing Omier to roll his ankle and fall to the court in pain. After being helped to the bench, Miami soon announced that he would not be returning to the matchup. X-rays were later taken and the results were fortunately negative.
