How did toddler Taylen Mosley end up in an alligator's mouth?

The body of 2-year-old Taylen Mosley was found in the mouth of an alligator near Dell Holmes Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Friday after he had been missing since his mother was found dead from multiple stab wounds in her apartment the previous day. A police officer shot and killed the alligator to retrieve the boy's body. Taylen's father, Thomas Mosley, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, in the deaths of Taylen and his mother, Pashun Jeffrey. Jeffrey's family said she had just moved to a better apartment and was excited to start a new chapter in her life with her son. Mosley was identified as a person of interest by the police, who found him in the hospital the day after Jeffrey's body was discovered with severe cuts on his arms. Funeral arrangements for the toddler and his mother are underway, according to a GoFundMe page set up by Taylen's maternal family. The police investigation is ongoing, and no information about Taylen's cause of death has been released.
