A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night in honor of Jamin Pugh, a professional wrestler known as Jay Briscoe in the ring, who tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash near Laurel on Jan. 17. Dozens of family, friends, and fans gathered at the Lee Elliott Worship Center to pay their respects and share memories of Pugh. Pugh's brother and lifelong tag team partner, Mark Pugh, also had a commemorative match on TBS in honor of his brother, which fell on what would have been Jamin's 39th birthday.
Pugh was a two-time ROH World Heavyweight Champion as a singles performer and, in 2022, the brothers were part of the first class of the ROH Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Pugh's two daughters who were in the the truck at the time of the crash are continuing to recover in the hospital. According to family friend Josh Wharton, Pugh's older daughter Gracie has feeling in her legs again below her knees and Jayleigh has had the tube removed following abdominal surgery and is now able to eat on her own.
