Windies' hopes boosted as Shamar Joseph cleared of toe fracture

Shamar Joseph, the breakout star of the West Indies cricket team, has been given the all-clear after fears of a toe fracture forced him to retire hurt during the Gabba Test match against Australia. The rookie quick was struck by a yorker from Mitchell Starc, but scans revealed no fractures, raising hopes that Joseph will be able to return to the game.

Joseph's absence on day four was filled by allrounder Justin Greaves, who impressed with his performance. However, West Indies fans will be hoping for Joseph's return, following his outstanding debut performance in Adelaide where he took a five-for.

While Australia seemed to have the upper hand after day three, with a target of 216 runs to win, a rainy forecast and an inspired display from the Windies quicks have given the tourists hope of an upset. Vice-captain Alzarri Joseph expressed confidence in his team, stating that as long as they bowl in the right areas, they still have a chance of winning the game.

The Gabba Test has been marked by several other noteworthy incidents, including Nathan Lyon's impactful return to the attack and Steve Smith's dropped catch. However, the focus remains on Shamar Joseph's recovery and the Windies' pursuit of their first Test win in Australia in nearly three decades.
