Erick Aguirre, a Texas man, has been accused of fatally shooting Elliot Nix during a dinner date on April 11 after Nix allegedly posed as a parking attendant and scammed Aguirre out of $40. According to the court records, after discovering the scam, Aguirre paused his dinner date, grabbed a pistol from his car and went after Nix. A witness claimed he heard a gunshot before he saw Aguirre “nonchalantly walking back to his car with the gun in his hand” and returning to the restaurant to continue the date with his girlfriend. Aguirre’s date claimed she was unaware of the shooting and only knew that Aguirre had "just scared the guy and everything was fine."
Aguirre’s bond was set at $200,000 and has been charged with murder. He has not yet released a statement regarding the incident. The woman who was on the dinner date with him is named as a person of interest but has not been charged with any crime, according to her attorney. This incident follows a growing trend of gun violence in the United States, where disagreements and mundane disputes have led to fatal outbreaks of violence.
