One year ago, the residents of Ukraine were forced to contend with a Russian invasion. Earlier today, the United Nations marked one year of war by voting overwhelmingly to demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. The resolution was approved by 141 countries and 32 abstentions, while seven countries - Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Syria, and of course Russia - voted against it.
The vote was met with applause and a renewed expression of unwavering global support for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke out on Twitter against the "Russian aggression" and NATO recently accused China of arming Russia. In response, China's Deputy U.N. Ambassador Dai Bing said "Adding fuel to the fire will only exacerbate tensions."
