Suspect Arrested Following Shooting at Annual Mardi Gras Parade

A shocking turn of events at Sunday’s annual Krewe of Bacchus and King Adam Devine Mardi Gras parade left 5 people injured, including a juvenile girl. The Orleans Parish Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and was able to identify and arrest a suspect. Reports have identified the suspect in holding, the shooter or one of various involved in the incident.

The incident occurred just before 5 PM local time and reported shots were heard at 9:30 PM. Amongst the five injured, three are men and the conditions range from critical to stable. Faithful and enthusiastic locals had been out in droves attending the parade, celebrating the final days of Carnivale before the festive Mardi Gras celebration the following day.

Chief Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier held a press conference to update reporters on the investigation, where he mentioned that the Police Department had recovered two weapons
