Police have confirmed that a shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas has left one person dead and three people injured. Sgt. Robert Gomez of the El Paso Police Department reports that law enforcement has one person in custody and are currently searching for a possible second suspect.
Videos taken by witnesses at the scene show multiple mall storefronts closed with their security gates down and law enforcement vehicles parked outside. Ryan Mielke, Director of Public Affairs for University Medical Center El Paso, informed the public that two of the injured individuals were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Early reports indicate that the incident took place shortly after 5pm in the food court and Dillard's Department Store at Cielo Vista Mall. Witnesses recall running out of the mall in fear, with some evoking memories of the 2019 mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart that left 23 dead.
