Tributes Pour In For Former President Jimmy Carter - 98 Years Old And In Hospice Care At Home

Former president Jimmy Carter, 98, has decided to forgo additional medical intervention, choosing instead to spend his “remaining time” at home with his family and receive hospice care. After a series of “short hospital stays”, the statement from The Carter Center was released on Saturday and since then, tributes have poured in to recognize the former US president’s decades long legacy and commitment to decency.

Tributes have come from across the nation, and even from fellow presidents. “The bond of our common humanity is stronger than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices”, Carter said during his 2002 Nobel peace prize lecture, which he was awarded for his work in attempting to end conflicts, his campaigning for human rights, and his work to increase social welfare.
