U.S. EPA Administator Reassures East Palestine Residents Amid Train Derailment

On Thursday, U.S. EPA Admistrator Michael Regan visited East Palestine, Ohio to assure the town's residents of their safety after a train derailment released toxins into the air and water. Regan began his remarks by thanking local first responders for their work in the aftermath of the crash.

"We hear you. We see you," Reagan said. "We will get to the bottom of this. All families need to know that they are safe, and all families deserve access to clean air and safe drinking water." The EPA has tested 500 homes and all air monitoring has revealed no quality issues. However, ongoing surface and groundwater testing is still being conducted by the Ohio EPA.

Regan also made sure to visit Kristina Ferguson's house, personally witnessing an air quality test. Individual water wells continue to be tested, and bottled water will be provided to well owners until
