Residents of Lauderdale County and Colbert County in North Alabama, take warning—the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning until 8:30 PM CST. At 7:53 PM this evening, a severe thunderstorm was located near Iuka, moving east at 55 mph, carrying with it the threat of tornados and quarter sized hail.
The storm brings with it an inherent risk; mobile homes will be damaged and destroyed, while roofs, windows and vehicles are likely to incur damage as well. Residents are encouraged to take cover immediately, moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the nearest solid shelter.
