Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Warning in Effect for Southeast Texas

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Harris County and more than a dozen other Southeast Texas counties. Along with this, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for College Station and surrounding areas. Wind speeds of up to 70 miles per hour and gusts of up to 45 miles per hour with small hailstones are expected, creating the possibility of tornadoes, hail and gusts of at least 60 miles per hour.

Residents should take precautionary measures and seek shelter immediately. Travel may be difficult due to high profile winds and objects, so drive carefully. Secure any outdoor items and stay alert for updates. As of 1:45 p.m., a line of highly charged storms had developed across the state, while a dust storm then rolled in and blocked visibility.

The watch is expected to last until midnight with rains and gusts lasting up until tomorrow morning. Residents should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions
