Ukraine War Intensifies: Over 1,090 Russian Soldiers Reported Killed Over the Weekend

On Sunday, Ukrainian military forces reported that over 1,090 Russian troops were killed in what is being considered the deadliest day of fighting since the start of the war in Ukraine more than a year ago. According to a spokesperson from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shtupun, eight Russian tanks, seven armored fighting vehicles, and four artillery systems were also destroyed in the intensity of the battles around Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast.

Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar further noted that the conflict in Bakhmut has been escalating, with Ukrainian troops defending a supply chain that Russia is trying to control. Satellite images also display a once-thriving city now obliterated and smothered in ashes.
