Self-help author and former 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson announced Saturday that she is taking a second shot at challenging current president, Joe Biden, for the 2024 Democratic nomination. This makes her the first Democrat to formally challenge Biden, who has yet to officially announce his own re-election campaign.
At her kickoff event Saturday, Williamson addressed a crowd of more than 600 at Washington DC's Union Station, declaring her desire to create a vision of justice and love that is strong enough to overcome the forces of hatred and injustice she feels have been growing over the past few years. Her campaign signs, which featured the slogans “A New Beginning” and “Disrupt the System”, reflect her stance that the country has been heading in the wrong direction and needs to shift gears and start fresh.
