Kentucky educators and state officials convened in Frankfort Monday to reveal their plan to address the statewide 11,000 teacher shortage. The Coalition to Sustain the Education Profession, chaired by Rhonda Caldwell and Terrie Morgan, announced six recommendations to help reduce the gap in education, such as providing financial incentives and launching a student-friendly recruitment and induction portal. Gov. Andy Beshear championed the cause by advocating for a 5% pay raise for all teachers, supported by the state. The raise would help keep up with inflation while also attracting talent to the profession, Beshear said. Makiya McNear
